Important Information about Lake of Lights

In the autumn of 2016, to celebrate Eden Valley Hospice’s 25th Anniversary, we hosted a special memorial event at Talkin Tarn. We were truly overwhelmed with the support of the event and the amount of people who attended Lake of Lights (Light Up a Lake).

The poignant and moving event became an annual event for the hospice as thousands of people joined together to remember loved ones at the local beauty spot. It was always a special event as the lights and trees of Talkin Tarn were illuminated with thousands of lights representing the memory of loved ones. Between 2016 and 2018 your kindness and generosity has helped raise over £15,000 for the hospice as you remember a loved one at the event.

Jo Hurst, Spiritual Care Team Lead added,

“Talkin Tarn will always hold a special place for everyone in the hospice. Thank you to everyone who has supported this event.”

In 2019, we will not be lighting the up the Tarn and the Hospice will be focusing on other memorial events in our calendar as well as new plans for 2020 and beyond.

Sam Johnston, Community and Events Fundraiser said,

“We have loved hosting this event for the past 3 years however, we want to pause it for now and look to new ideas for the future. We have a special 30th anniversary coming up in the next couple of years, so watch this space.”

During 2019 there are lots of ways you can support the hospice and remember a loved one, including a new Memory Tree located at the hospice. From our peaceful Garden of Memories in Carlisle City Centre to our annual Light Up a Life events in November and December we will continue to provide the local community with opportunities to remember loved ones and receive the compassion and support they need.
