Band 8a (equivalent) Advanced Clinical Practitioner – Palliative and End of Life Care

We are looking for a forward-thinking Advanced Clinical Practitioner or a Practitioner who can evidence working at this level, who is experienced and passionate in Palliative Care to provide high-quality, patient centred, evidence-based care. Requirements include the ability to work at MSc Advanced Practice level. You need to have skills in physical assessment as well as advanced communication, clinical assessment, diagnosis, and decisions making skills within a variety of general and palliative diagnoses. You must be able to provide the highest possible quality of specialist palliative care as an independent practitioner and non-medical prescriber.

Eden Valley Hospice has a 10 bed specialist palliative care inpatient unit and a 5 bed children’s hospice.  We are looking to recruit someone self-motivated, with a proven track record of progressive leadership and development. Main duties of the job

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner is an experienced registered professional with specialist skills to assess and treat patients and to manage their workload within a clinical environment, in liaison with the management and medical team.

The practitioner will work closely alongside other members of the hospice multidisciplinary team, acting as an autonomous practitioner and nonmedical prescriber to form clinical decisions and complex management plans in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of patients.

The ACP will work with senior nursing and medical staff to review and develop clinical guidance for all aspects of clinical practice within the specialty.

The post holder will develop new areas of practice and will actively lead on wider research engagement, alongside nursing and medical staff, ensuring quality standards are met.

The postholder will support in the supervision of clinicians in training; including medical students, trainee advanced clinical practitioner, foundation doctors and GP registrars.

The hospice MDT includes specialist nurses and doctors, pharmacists, social workers, psychological support staff and administrative staff.

  • 30 hours per week over 4 days with an on-call commitment of 1 mid-weeknight per week and 10 weekends per year.
  • Annual basic salary: £43,004 (£53,755 FTE).
  • Additional payment for on call commitments of 1 mid-weeknight per week and 10 weekends per year: £15,668 per annum.

*FTE salaries are based on 37.5 hours
