Who are Adult In-Patient Services for?
Our Adult In-Patient Unit services are for patients with progressive, life threatening, incurable illnesses who have difficult and/or complex needs which cannot be met by other teams, requiring specialist palliative care. It is also for patients in the last few days of life and seek end of life care in their preferred place.
The Unit provides specialist care and assessment for people whose condition can no longer be managed at home, or for whom an "at home service" is inappropriate for any number of reasons. However we are unable to provide long-term care and if this need should arise it may be necessary to make more appropriate arrangements.
