Two staff members at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, have been nominated for the Golden Apple Awards 2024. Rebeccah Morrison, Education, Play and Activity Facilitator, has been nominated for the Best Inclusion Initiative award sponsored by BAE and Lola Henderson, People Services Apprentice, has been nominated for Best Apprentice award sponsored by Lakes College.
The Golden Apple Awards are being hosted by Newsquest Cumbria in partnership with the University of Cumbria, to celebrate the best Cumbria has to offer from its education industry. There were over 250 nominations across 13 categories all made by staff, students, parents and members of the public.
Rebeccah and Lola were announced as finalists in July and are now looking forward to the upcoming awards ceremony on Thursday 10th October 2024.
Rebeccah Morrison said, “It is always such a joy to work with the children in Jigsaw, so when I found out about being nominated it was just the icing on the cake!”
Lola Henderson added, “I am very excited to have the opportunity to be a finalist. The hospice is such an amazing place and I feel so lucky to be apart of the amazing work that happens here.”
Everyone at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw are proud of both nominees. Julie Clayton, Chief Executive, wished both nominees luck, saying; “We are immensely proud of both Rebeccah and Lola. It is well-deserved recognition of their hard work and dedication to those who need care throughout the local community. All the nominees are making a difference in Cumbria and are such a high caliber, but we are keeping everything crossed for them.”
This year the awards ceremony will be hosted by Mike Zeller at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal. I’m sure you will all join us in wishing all finalists the best of luck!
