Everyone associated with Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice has wished Dr Teresa Storr a happy and healthy retirement after stepping down from her role with the charity following a 45-year career in medicine.
Dr Storr started her medical journey as a student in 1978 and retires aged 64 with a life devoted to promoting patient-centred palliative care. She first joined the hospice in the 1990s and served as the medical director for many years, championing end of life care in acute settings and promoted the impact and value of hospice services.
Dr Storr also enjoyed a distinguished career within the NHS, most recently as a clinical lead for the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB), being particularly prominent in the areas of training and role-modelling.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw CEO Julie Clayton said : “Teresa has touched the lives of many north Cumbrian patients and families, easing their experience at end of life and being a voice that has helped shape palliative services across the region. Her influence has been huge, and her impact has been enormous both at an individual level and at a system level.
“Teresa is a champion, an educator, and has nurtured many who will make a difference every day because they have worked and learned from her.
“We wish Teresa a very happy and healthy retirement and thank her for all the incredible work she has done.”
