Role Summary
As a Charity Shop Volunteer, you will help support the daily operations of the shop, contributing to raising funds for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice’s vital work. Your involvement will help create a welcoming environment for customers and ensure a positive shopping experience while supporting sustainability through reused goods.
Days and times
- Monday 10am –1pm Front of House
- Tuesday 10-1pm Stock sorting/pricing
- Wednesday 1pm-4pm Stock sorting/pricing
- Thursday 1pm-5pm Front of house
- Friday 10am-1pm & 1pm to 4pm stock sorting/pricing
- Saturday 10am-1pm front of house

Time Commitment:
- Flexible hours available; typically a minimum of 3–4 hours per week.

Training Provided:
Full induction and ongoing training in customer service, till operation, health & safety, and shop procedures.
Additional Requirements:
- Minimum age: 16
- Reporting to the Shop Manager or Shop Supervisor
Duties and responsibilities
Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly and offer assistance as needed.
- Operate the till (cash register), handle transactions, and process payments.
- Answer customer queries in a friendly and helpful manner.
Stock Handling and Merchandising:
- Sort, steam, and price donated items according to shop guidelines.
- Assist with stock rotation, replenishment, and visual merchandising.
- Maintain an appealing and organised shop floor.
Backroom Support:
- Help with sorting donations, ensuring items are clean, safe, and saleable.
- Assist in preparing items for sale, including tagging and hanging clothing.
Health & Safety:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy working environment.
- Follow shop procedures, including safety and security guidelines.
Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively with other volunteers and shop staff.
- Attend training and team meetings as required.
