Programme Director

Independent Collaborative North East & North Cumbria

This is a new role supporting the 12 hospices that make up the Independent Collaborative Hospices North East & North Cumbria to support regional collaboration across our independent adult and children’s hospices and hospice at home partners across the North East & North Cumbria. This will be done by strengthening the use of data to demonstrate impact and partnerships with the ICB, NHS and other key stakeholders.

Under the direction of the CEOs, the role will be to support the drive for improved data collection and consistent reporting to demonstrate the case for fair funding for all hospices in the collaborative.

About you?
You will be keen to make a difference and supportive of the work of the hospice sector. You will have a track record of system working, being collaborative and understand the complexities of the NHS landscape. You will be practical and values-led, able to build trust with a belief in compassionate care, reducing health inequalities, increasing fairness and an ambition to ensure hospices are seen as equal partners in system change.

How the role will work?
The role will be delivered through an independent contractor style model over an agreed number of days or hours each month, with the ability to flex to meet deadlines. You will have a unique position working alongside senior hospice leaders to build strong collaboration and advocate for our hospice members.

About us
We are 12 independent hospices across the North East and North Cumbria ICB footprint providing a range of services for adults and children, both  in-hospice and at home. We have been working together for a number of years and this next step is helping to formalise this collaboration. There has been upheaval in commissioning and in a time of pressures on providers the hospice sector is excited to see the guidance developing around the new Modern Service Framework for Palliative and End of Life Care.
