Rotary Club Greenhouse
It has always been important for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw to be able to grown their own produce within the hospice grounds, including flowers to plant in the hospice gardens and vegetables to help make the home cooked meals.
In 2005 the Rotary Club of Carlisle, during the Centenary celebrations of Rotary International, helped to make this possible by purchasing a greenhouse for the hospice gardens. Along with purchasing the greenhouse, Rotary Club members also helped to erect the construction from its flat pack kit. Since then the greenhouse has enabled the hospice maintenance team and volunteers to grow a wide range of produce, including an annual supply of very tasty tomatoes.
The Rotary Club of Carlisle’s support of Eden Valley Hospice began long before the hospice was built on Durdar Road. Rotary Club members Tom Crellin and Peter Whitley were heavily involved in the setting up and fundraising for the hospice. Since then the group have continued to support the charities in a wide range of ways, from marshalling at fundraising events to purchasing different items for the hospice.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw would like to thank the Rotary Club of Carlisle for their fantastic and continued support of the hospice.
