Retail Gift Aid

Did you know you can increase the income of your donated goods by 25% if you are a UK Taxpayer?

Just as you can Gift Aid a monetary donation, the government scheme allows charities to reclaim 25% from HM Revenue and Customers on the sale of any donated goods, at no extra cost to you!

Please note, this form is different to our monetary Gift Aid form. Even if you have already completed a normal Gift Aid declaration, you will need to complete this Retail Gift Aid form.

How does the Retail Gift Aid scheme work?

Step 1Complete the Retail Gift Aid form! You can do this in any of the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw shops or ask a member of staff to post you a form. By signing the form you agree that Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw can act as an agent and sell your items on your behalf.

Step 2You will be given a unique donor ID Number and all your items will be labelled with this number. This will help us total up the amount of money raised from the sale of your items. Whenever you donate items in the future, please bring along the card with your unique donor ID Number to include on additional donated items.

Step 3 – When your items are sold, we’ll let you know how much you’ve helped us raise at the end of the year (by letter or email). We will then claim the extra money from HMRC – you don’t have to do anything.

Keep your details updated

It is important we can keep your Retail Gift Aid record up to date. You need to inform us of any changes to your circumstances, address or other personal details so that we can continue to contact you about your Gift Aid.

If you stop paying tax, it is vital that you let us know so we can stop claiming Gift Aid on any donations which you make.
