Shine a light in memory of your loved ones this winter

Light up a Life invites you to celebrate the people you love and miss by taking some time out at the busiest time of year to reflect and remember. Everyone is welcome to join in and remember someone in this special way, you’ll be part of a warm and welcoming community.

Dedicating a Light in Memory
To say thank you for your kind donation to Eden Valley Hospice & Jigsaw, a personalised bauble bearing the name(s) of those you're remembering will sparkle on our 'Tree of Lights' at the heart of our reception area. The baubles will be on display for you to come and visit, through-out Christmas time. Why not come and see your bauble and enjoy a piece of cake too? Our pop-up café opens on the 24th of November and is a perfect opportunity for you to see your dedication.

Your support allows us to continue providing hospice care for local families

Maureen Hodges and her family experienced this care firsthand, when Maureen’s husband Peter was diagnosed with cancer in March 2022 and passed away at Eden Valley Hospice 18 months later, on September 2, 2023. Maureen shared her thoughts: “I miss him every single day, but the hospice staff are still there on hand to help me manage my grief and find a new normal. I will never forget the care and comfort they gave us as a family.”

"On Peter’s last night, myself, our two daughters, and our son were able to spend it in his room, and I think he got comfort from knowing we were there in his last hours"

Maureen, whose husband Peter was cared for at the hospice, shared how much that support meant to her family. “Peter’s biggest fear was ending his life in hospital. He wasn’t scared of dying, but he wanted to do it with dignity. The hospice enabled him to do that,” she said. On his final night, Maureen and their children were able to be by his side. “I will never forget the care and comfort they gave us as a family – I can’t speak highly enough of them.”
