We warmly welcomed the High Sheriff of Cumbria, Dr Geoff Jolliffe, to the hospice on Monday 2nd March 2026.
During his visit, Julie, our CEO, and Mark, our Chair of Trustees, led a tour around both the Adult Inpatient Unit and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice. Along the way, Dr Jolliffe took time to speak with clinical teams and wider staff, learning more about the compassionate, hands‑on care we provide to local people and families every single day.
He was also given a behind‑the‑scenes look at the ongoing improvement works currently taking place within our adult hospice bedrooms and bathrooms — upgrades that will help ensure our environment continues to feel calm, comfortable and dignified for those we care for.
We truly appreciate his interest in the work we are doing to generate sustainable income and secure a stable future for the hospice. His engagement and thoughtful questions highlighted a genuine commitment to understanding both our challenges and our ambitions for the years ahead.
