Challenge of a lifetime in 2021
- Monday, 13 April 2020
Draped along the greatest heights of the Himalaya, Nepal is where the ice-cold of the mountains meets the steamy heat of the Indian plains. To celebrate the hospice’s 30th Anniversary in 2021, we will be hosting a special fundraising challenge to Nepal.
The 12 day challenge, from Saturday 9 to Wednesday 20 October 2021, will see you following the banks of Bhurungdi Khola River, ascending Poonhill for a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna Massif, Dhawalagiri and enjoying views of the snow-capped peaks of Annapurna and Machhapuchre.
Along with completing an amazing challenge and supporting your local hospice, you will also be able to give something back to the Nepal community. The first two days of the challenge will be spent assisting with basic refurbishments at a local hospice project, Hospice Nepal, in Kathmandu. The organisation was set up by a team of local doctors in 2000, and since then has provided free-of-charge medicines, therapies and support to those in need.
Improving the conditions at the hospice during the first two days will create a fantastic team atmosphere, whilst also giving you a huge sense of achievement and creating a refreshed working environment for the patients and staff at the hospice to enjoy.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw will be running the trek in partnership with travel provider Different Travel who host a range of charity overseas challenges every year, including treks in Nepal. Here’s just some of the feedback they have received from people who have completed the Nepal Trek previously.
“It was a fantastic trek and the involvement with the community project was certainly an experience I will never forget. I have been able to learn more about aspects of the Neplase way of life.”
“I enjoyed the trip immensely. The challenge of the trek, the sights, the views. The experience of the project and interaction with the people is something I will never forget. The camaraderie between the trekkers was brill.”
“Absolutely loved it. Loads of memories – amazed by the forest, the monkeys we saw, the absolutely mental Kathmandu, the trek team just how wonderful they truly were.”
