About this Appeal
Christmas can be a time of year to remember loved ones who are no longer with us, but still close to our hearts.
The hospice's Light Up a Life appeal is a memorial event where supporters can make an in-memory donation to the Hospice, remembering loved ones no longer with us.
A special message from our Spiritual Care Lead, Jo Hurst, this Christmas
“As the nights begin to draw in, here at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw we know that this signals the beginning of the Light Up a Life season. I know for many of you who read this it will be a significant time of year for you too.
“One of the reasons for having our Light up a Life events is so that people can come together to mark this important season. It’s also a time where we can both
acknowledge our loss and also remember the joys we shared with our loved one. Part of the beauty of these events is that we are surrounded by others who have walked a similar path and we are reminded that we are not alone in what we are going through. There is such a sense of community, love and support.
“At each event we will have a Christmas tree and you will have the opportunity to place a bauble to represent your loved one on the tree. After each event the baubles will be taken back to the hospice and displayed in The Fold and reception area, so that you know throughout this season you and your loved ones are remembered.”
Simply complete the form below and, in the message box, let us know the names of those you wish to remember. On receipt of your donation we will send you a special Light Up a Life card, detailing the names of your loved ones.
Please feel free to remember anyone close to your heart, not just people who have been cared for at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw.
As part of the care provided by the hospice, we are also holding three Light Up a Life events:
- St Mary's Chruch, Wigton - Sunday 24 November, 3pm
- Hospice Grounds Gathering - Sunday 1 December, 4:30pm
- Carlisle Cathedral Carol Service - Friday 6 December, 7:30pm
At each event there will be time to reflect in music and words. At Wigton and Carlisle Cathedral you are invited to bring a bauble or tree decoration to adorn the Hospice Christmas trees, to represent a loved one. During the Hospice Grounds Gathering you will have the chance to leave a tea light in either our hospice gardens or in the Chapel as you remember a loved one.
