Throughout May members of a local junior football team will make the most of their daily exercise as they virtually walk from Brunton Park to Wembley in aid of Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
Not every superhero wears a cape. But on National Superhero Day Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice are encouraging the local community to immerse themselves in all things superheroes to support their care during these challenging times.
Draped along the greatest heights of the Himalaya, Nepal is where the ice-cold of the mountains meets the steamy heat of the Indian plains. To celebrate the hospice’s 30th Anniversary in 2021, we will be hosting a special fundraising challenge to Nepal.

It’s not always easy to know how to talk about dying. Awkwardness, embarrassment and fear means we tend to shy away from connecting with those who are dying or those who are grieving. But when we don’t talk about what matters it can increase feelings of isolation, loneliness and distress.
In October 2018, Nicky Gordon, MD of Genesis Homes was invited to take a tour of Jigsaw. During the tour, and in subsequent visits, he was totally blown away, and humbled, by the work of the staff. At this time, Genesis Homes was looking to support a local charity and straight after the visit, Nicky’s decision was made.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw is here for everybody living with a life limiting illness in Cumbria and south west Scotland. But how do we ensure our services and building are accessible and homely for everybody within the local community?
Emails, passwords, subscriptions and social media. Many of us use technology to keep in touch with people, pay bills, share information or back up our memories, but what happens to all this information when we die?
