Fundraiser prepares to run in aid of the hospice

A local man will be racing around the streets of Carlisle on Sunday 2 October at this year's Great Cumbrian Run to help the care, support and activities at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.

This year’s Great Cumbrian Run will be special for Graham Osgood as he runs in aid of the local charity. Graham will be joined by a team of Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw fundraisers on the start line as they support the local hospice’s team of nurses and specialist doctors.

Graham explains,

“The reason why I chose Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw is because it is a local charity that deals with kids and adults. Being local it is very important to me and has inspired me to do the Cumbrian Run.

“I chose to do the Cumbrian Run this year as a challenge to myself and thought why not raise funds for a local charity as well.”

GCR1

Every runner taking part in this year’s Great Cumbrian Run will have their own memory, reason and purpose for completing the 13.1 mile course. Whether it is to set a personal best or to raise money in aid of charity they will all create memories which will last a life time.

Graham continued,

“The main thing I am looking forward to is running over the finish line knowing I have raised money for such a worthwhile cause. I’ve been training since September last year for the run so everything should be ok, but the thought of not finishing and letting people down fills me with dread.”

The money raised by Graham and the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw fundraisers will help the local charity provide care, support and activities to local adults and children with life limiting illnesses. This care and compassion is extended to all of the patients’ families, friends and carers.

GCR2

2016 is a special year for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw as it marks its 25th anniversary. For two and a half decades the hospice has provided care, support and activities for adults and children with life limiting illnesses. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Cumbrian community.
